How To Clean Your Laptop CD/DVD ROM

As you know most laptop, notebook ROMs are fixed all together, so that when you pull out the tray you can see the motor and focus lens. When they are used long term dust particles attach to the surface of the focus lens and gives you a hard time trying to read your disks. Most people think it is due to a fault of their disk, it maybe the disk (click here to see how to clean cds and dvds) but in some cases it is the cause of dust particles being attached to focus lens.

First lets see what you need to clean the focus lens.

  Any type of baby cologne

 Cotton buds (small)

Cotton

Now let us see how you should do it.

  Take the cotton bud and dip it in the cologne well so that the bud is soaked well with cologne but at the same time make sure that the cologne does NOT drip.








 Now open the tray of your ROM and you will the the focus lens, which looks like a small glass circle,.. place the soaked cotton bud on the lens lightly and clean it, but make sure you don't flood the lens. Now let it dry ( it will dry in a few seconds, so don't worry ;).









Now to clean the rest of the ROM
  Get a piece of cotton and slightly dip it in cologne, and again make sure the cologne does not drip from the cotton. Now clean the rest of the visible parts of the tray and motor.
 The cologne will dry off in a few seconds and you are good to go.





CAUTION this procedure should be done with a lot of patience and also do NOT close the tray until everything is dry.

How To Cook Milk Rice and Lunumiris

 As a Sri Lankan, what we eat for celebrations as the main food is Milk Rice with Lunumiris. It is a very tasty treat for your mouth, the taste of milk with rice and along with a hot traditional chili paste (lunu-miris) gives wonders to your taste buds. It is my duty and will be my pleasure to teach you how to cook milk rice from home.


                           The making of the chilli paste (lunu-miris)    lunu = salt, miris = chili








Things you need:

10 dried chilies
50g of red onion (small onion)
3 table spoons Maldive fish/cured tuna (ground)
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon lime



                                                 

Method:

Add the dry red chilies, the maldive fish and the onions along with the salt into the grinder/blender. Now blend them well until a thick red paste is fromed.
Empty the contents into a bowl and add the lime and mix it well. Now you have you chili paste or lunu-miris.

        Things you need                                                  

        500g white rice raw

        coconut milk
        salt

Method:

 Divide the coconut milk in two separate bowls in which one bowl should be dilute coconut milk and the other has thick/concentrated coconut milk.
 Wash the rice well, place it in the rice-cooker and add the dilute coconut milk until the dilute coconut milk is 1- 1.5 inches above the rice.
 When the rice is cooked halfway, add the thick or concentrated coconut milk into the rice cooker and let it be cooked to the end.
 Now you have finished cooking your milk rice.
 For presentation you can put it in a plate and cut cubes and when eating mix it with the lunu-miris well.

How To Clean CDs & DVDs

 You may have CDs and DVDs that are precious to you, but sometimes your CDs and DVDs are taken away by your friends. When they are returned to you most of the time they are scratched and now, if they are movies..they skip if they are scratched and if they are PC games the games don't install properly.
   The reason for these problems is not the scratch itself, the reason is there are particles of dust trapped in between the scratches. This method may sound crazy but trust me, it works. So this is how you can remove the unseen microscopic dust particles from your disk safely.

Things you need

Toothpaste
Water
Cotton Cloth

How You Should Do It

Take the scratched disk and wet the scratched surface well, or you can hold it to the tap. But do not touch the surface yet.

Now take out your toothpaste and apply some toothpaste over the scratched disk. Using your fingertips now, slowly apply it in a circular movement all over the scratched disk.

Take a little water and wash away all the tooth paste on the disk or you can hold it to the tap while still washing away the toothpaste in a circular motion.

Once the toothpaste is all removed get the cotton cloth and clean the disk dry until there is not a drop of water to be seen. And you are good to go.

Take Heed

You MUST use a soft cotton cloth or you may end up scratching you disk even more.

Clean and dry both sides of the disk or else you may crash your CD/DVD ROM

Do not leave the toothpaste for a long time or it will damage the disk.

How To Plant Anthuriums In The Correct Way

  As we all know anthuriums are plants with a flower of adorable beauty. They come in various colors such as Red, Pink, White, Purple, Light Green and also as bi-colors like green and white, red and green, purple and green etc. But you would like to have them in the garden wouldn't you? so here is the correct way of planting an anthurium.

Things you need:

Flower Pot
Coconut Husks
Coir Dust
Pieces of Bricks
Plant

How to get an Anthurium Plant:

The easiest and the most reliable way of getting a plant is from the plant itself. You will have to find a plant with a newborn shoot. You will have to extract the new plant carefully without damaging the roots of the mother plant. I recommend you to use garden tools.

How to plant the extracted plant

Once the plant is extracted you will have to have the flower pot ready. To have the best conditions to the plant to grow you will need to:
First, place the pieces of brick in the bottom of the pot so that the brick absorbs water and keeps the roots moist.
Next, cut cubes of about 1 cubic inch of the coconut husks and place them over the top of the brick layer, until the pot is filled halfway.
 Now take the plant you extracted and place it on the top of the coconut husk cubes. Hold it straight and add a little coir dust along with compost. Finally get some coconut husks and place over the plant for support.

Important

Once your Anthurium is planted you should place the plant in a shaded area with plenty of water. You may use fertilizers to aid flower growth.

How To Create A Virtual Disk Drive And Mounting Image Files

 Virtual disk drives are used vastly these days mostly to mount image files  such as .iso, .mds, .ccd and so on.. These are applications downloaded from torrents such as PC games and softwares. These large files are made into a single file which reduces space required and easy to download. What a Virtual drive does is mount these image files acting as a storage and a decoder for the image files. This is how you create a virtual drive.

Step 1
Download Alcohol Soft 120%. If you have Windows 7, click here to download Alcohol 120.

Step 2
Install Alcohol 120% to your PC which will only have a simple installation process. And once installed you will be prompted to restart your computer where you will have to restart.



Step 3
Once restarted open Alcohol 120% and certain checks will be done for a few seconds. Now a single virtual drive is created as a default where you will find it in My Computer along with your CD/DVD drive.

Mounting Image files

  As I told you earlier image files have extensions with  .mds .btw .ccd .iso. To mount an image file is very simple.

Step 1
Go to My Computer and select the virtual disk drive. Right click on the virtual disk drive and click on "mount  image.

Step 2
When you click on "mount image" you will be asked to select your image file. Browse to your image files destination and select the image file and click "open".

Step 3
Now you have mounted your image file and it is similar to inserting a CD. If it is an application you can install its contents just as you do once inserting a CD/DVD.


   Once you have created and used your Virtual disk drive to a certain purpose you may need the virtual disk drive again to mount another image file. You can mount another image file by simply right-clicking on the virtual drive and clicking on "unmount" and mounting another image file.
   But in any case you need to leave the image file in a virtual drive and still want to mount the other image file, you can just simply create another Virtual Disk Drive.

Step 1
Open Alcohol 120% and on its left side under "Options" menu click on Virtual Drive" and a dialog box will be displayed on your screen.

Step 2
On the top of the dialog box you will be allowed to choose the number of virtual drives you need. Select any amount you need, considering how many image files you need to mount and click "OK"

Step 3
Open "My Computer" and you will see another virtual disk drive. Now you can mount your image files.

How To Do A Motorbike Burnout

Motorbike burnouts are really cool way of displaying some action from your bike. This is how you can do it easily, even with a less powerful bike.

1. Start your motorbike and let it heat up for a few minutes. Just like a body needs warm up before exercise a motorbike needs a warm up too.

2. Hold the clutch and the front brake tightly.

3. Shift the bike into 1st gear and rev up to 5000 rpm, still holding the clutch and front brake.

4. Release the clutch whilst holding the front brake and you can see burnin' rubber


Warning:

If you release the clutch too quick you may harm the engine.

Since this is a forced action make sure you do it right or  else the bike will move forward with sudden jerk and you may not be able to control the bike.

Don't do it on the tarmac for the first time, try it on a gravel area.

I recommend first timers to do it in an open area with no obstacles.


Tips:

Lean forward a bit, by which it will cause the rear tyre spin easily.

Let the clutch go halfway for a few seconds and once the tyre starts to spin control the clutch by releasing at full and pressing it back halfway.

How To Reuse Your Old Spark Plug

As you know if there is a trouble starting you motorbike suddenly or unexpectedly the obvious reason is the spark plug. But in most cases it is not the spark plug itself, it is because of the incorrect tuning of the engine causing oil spill into the plug socket. So instead of replacing the spark plug, you can simply clean it with the following procedure.

1. Remove the spark plug from its socket. If you don't know how to remove a spark plug click here to find out.

2. Once removed you will see that its fixed corner is blacked and oily, which prevents spark.

3. First clean it with a cloth, the get a sand-paper and fold it so that both sides are rough and place it between the electrode and the metal shell and rub it well for a few seconds.

4. Dip the ground electrode and a few threads in a small amount of petrol and light it up with fire and leave it until the light dies.

5. Clean it with a cloth again and replace the spark plug and you are good to go.


Warning:

When you light up the spark plug after dipping in petrol, make sure you do it away from the motorbike and other flamable sources.

Place the spark plug on the floor before you light it up, or you may hurt yourself.

How To Change The Spark Plug Of a Motorbike

   If your motorbike refuse to start in one shot, then the obvious reason is the spark plug. This is how you change the spark plug of your motorbike.

1. You can locate the spark plug just at the side of the engine, it is connected to a thick cord with its visible end, which is connected to the plug has a cover.

2. Pull off the cord, it will come off easily and the spark plug will be visible.

3. Take out the spark plug wrench, and insert it into the plug, turn it anti-clockwise to loosen and remove the plug.

4. Get the new spark plug, place it in the socket and tighten the spark plug. Take the cable, place it over spark plug and press it tight.

5. Now you are good to go.

How To Plant a Coconut Tree

 As you know coconut is a very useful tree in everyday life, specially if you live in South Asia. So this is how you plant one in the correct way.

1. Get a coconut which is in very good condition and also its husk should be dry.

2. Leave the coconut in mixture of sand and soil until a shoot of at least 2 feet erected from the coconut. (Usually takes about 3 months)

3. Choose a place where there is good sunlight and dig a hole of dimensions 4ft*4ft*4ft.

4. Place the plant in the hole and fill with a little soil and place coconut husks until the hole is filled halfway.
But don't cover the rest with soil because it should remain as said.

5. After a few years you will have the results

IMPORTANT: DO NOT LET OTHER TREES TOWER OVER THE COCONUT PLANT OR ELSE IT WILL MOVE TOWARDS SUNLIGHT WHICH WILL RESULT IN A CROOKED OR DEVIATED COCONUT TREE.

How To Make Ice Cream At Home

Ingredients:

1 tin condensed milk
2 tins water
2 teaspoons gelatin dissolved o.5 cups of water
2 eggs
3 teaspoons sugar
Vanilla

Method:

             Mix the condensed milk in 2 tins of water and let it boil. Beat the 2 eggs along with the sugar. Pour the boiled milk into the beaten eggs and stir it well so that it wont curdle. Stir and simmer the mixture under low heat until the mixture becomes evenly thick, let the mixture cool down and add the gelatin mixture. Then place it in the freezer, when its frozen halfway, take the mixture out and beat it well, until it is smooth. Replace it in the freezer and let it freeze.

How To Make Caramel Pudding

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
1 cup water
8 eggs
vanilla
1 tin condensed milk

Method:

 1. The caramel
                          Add 1 cup of sugar to 1 cup of cold water along with a few drops of vanilla                      essence. Place these ingredients in a pan and let it boil but do not stir. Once a light coffee colored liquid is formed, remove the pan from heat and let it cool down until yo need it for the pudding.

2. The Pudding 
                         Add the water and vanilla into the condensed milk. Beat the eggs and add it to the mixture of water, condensed milk and vanilla and mix it well
                         Next, pour the whole mixture in to the bowl and cover it with an aluminium foil. Place it in an  oven for an hour or so, or it is much easier if you use a pressure cooker. Once done you can enjoy your home made caramel pudding!!

 As we know many people nowadays get see all new videos from YouTube. But most of us need to save the videos we like. This is a real easy way of getting it done.

1. Download and install Java Runtime into your computer.

2. Go to Youtube and click on your favorite video.

4. Go to www.keepvid.com and paste the copied link in its textbox.

How To Download From a Torrent File

Downloading from a torrent is the method most people use to download large files, where you can stop the download for days and start it from where you stop.

1. First you will have to download a torrent downloading software. In which i recommend Vuze. 

2. Next you will have to install this software which is a basic installation process.

3. Download a torrent file from a torrent site. ex: Kickass Torrents. Make sure you have a higher number of seeds and leech.

4. Double click the torrent file downloaded and it will open in your software.

5. Let it download for as long as you wish, but if you want to pause it click on the stop button and exit the program.
